The Tigers easily defeated the New York Yankees in a 4 game sweep in the ALCS, while the Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds 3 straight games after trailing 2-0, and then came back from a 3-1 deficit to beat the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals 4-3.
